Aaron, Jessica and Halle Jamerson receive prestigious award
The Dunklin County Farm Family has been chosen by the University of Missouri Extension Council to represent the area at the Missouri State Fair's 'Farm Family Day.'
Jessica and Aaron Jamerson of Hornersville, Mo., were chosen for the prestigious award based on the suggested criteria set forth by the University's College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources division and its sponsors.
The Jamerson family, fourth generation farmers, are active supporters and cooperators with the University of Missouri Extension, are actively engaged in agricultural activities and rely of the University of Missouri Extension and the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources for their programming and technical assistance.
The couple and their daughter, Halle Ann, born January 8, 2008, are equally active in their community and in leadership roles including church, school, and other farm organizations.
According to the representatives that nominated the family, Aaron and Jessica are respected by their neighbors and the community as a whole, and are interested in the impact they can make as participants in the 2009 Missouri State Fair, representing all families throughout farming communities found in Dunklin County.
"The Farm Family Day at the Missouri State Fair provides us the opportunity to honor and recognize one outstanding farm family from each county in the state, said David E. Baker, assistant dean for the Agriculture and Natural Resources Extension.
This year will be the 51st Annual Farm Family Day event, to take place Monday, August 17, 2009 at Sedalia, Mo. Additional sponsors of the Farm Family Day recognition program include the Missouri Farm Bureau, and the Missouri State Fair.
Each Extension Council and County Farm Bureau Board is asked to jointly nominate a farm family to represent their county at the event, where families will enjoy a fun-filled day of fair activities, followed by a recognition dinner hosted by the Missouri Farm Bureau.
According to representatives from the University of Missouri, the Farm Family Day program is intended to honor the contributions of an individual farm family.
After learning that they had been chosen for such recognition, the Jamerson family said they were grateful and felt truly blessed.
"It is such an honor," said Aaron Jamerson after the announcement was made.
"It means so much to my wife and I, along with our parents and other family. We are very honored to be chosen for this award."

Some of us know that "me" is in the objective case and "I" is subjective. But is that totally necessary to be a good farmer and a good person? I think not.
Way to go Aaron, Halle, and Jessica!
