Five individuals turned in letters of resignation, all of which were approved by the board.
Those resigning include Stacy Morgan, an instructor in the district's practical nursing program; Mary Collins, a teacher's aide at Masterson Elementary; Beverly Stillman, a sixth-grade reading teacher; and Melissa Green, a high school math teacher.
Jim Tidd, an instructor at the Kennett School District's alternative school, also turned in a letter of resignation regarding his extra curricular activities as a girls' and boys' track coach.
During the regular session of the board meeting on Tuesday, a new School-Home Liason/Social Worker position was approved and will be funded through IDEA ARRA funds, with the possibility of two years of employment.
During the executive session, the board hired Danielle Wilson to fill the new position.
Three more positions were also established during the regular session -- assistant to the high school principal, assistant to the middle school principal, and athletic director. These positions were also filled during the executive session.
Aaron New, coach a Kennett High School, was employed as the assistant to the high school principal. Brent Carr, a coach at the middle school, was employed as the assistant to the middle school principal. Assistant Superintendent Chris Wilson was employed as the athletic director.
The new duties for New and Carr include doing all clerical work as the previous athletic director conducted, such as game contracts and scheduling. Their new duties also include being a part-time teacher and part-time office worker.
Wilson, as the new athletic director, will oversee the entire program.
Also hired during the executive session was Mary Tillery as a sixth-grade teacher's aide.
Heather McHaney was hired as a fifth-grade teacher, who will be replacing Kim Dye, as Dye is moving to the position left open following Stillman's resignation.
Two positions were filled at the high school, with Angie Burnside being employed as a new science teacher and Margaret Benson employed as a Communication Arts teacher.
The final position filled was the position left open by Green's resignation. Stephen Lightfoot, an instructor from Caruthersville, was hired to fill the position, pending his release from the Caruthersville School District.

Sounds like a way to give coaches a "backdoor" raise?
Unbelievable. No wonder Fullerton resigned. It's going to take three people to do what he did by himself. I'm sure he had had enough. Anyone notice how many good teachers Kennett has lost the last several years? Yet, we still have the same old song and dance for the chosen few.
So sorry to hear of Beverly Stillman's resignaion. This will be a true loss to the school.
It was my understanding (and many others in the district considering the email that was sent from "the powers that be") that Chris Wilson was appointed "Administrator OVER the Athletic Directors" NOT the Athletic Director as the article states.
The position of athletic director carries ALOT of extra after school duties and commitments. They have to attend ALL sporting events at one time or another as their schedule will allow; along with their already busy other coaching duties. The last athletic director didn't coach anything while he had this title. So their so called "backdoor raise" is warranted, I assure you. The article makes it sound as if they are nothing more than overpaid clerical/office workers. No wonder people don't understand why they deserve a raise.
If the district is just trying to save money by adding more work to two already busy coaches then... shame on them! On the other hand if they value these employees and want to support their newly appointed title then... good for them!
We all want to be recognized for a job well done, or in this case a job TO BE well done.
I think this needs to be verified and clairified and reprinted!
