The Sheryl Crow Aquatic Center has already had approximately 2,249 people visit the pool this year, and will be renting the space to a daycare at the end of July, which will be a first for the center.
Kennett Park Board member, Deb Stokley, said the center has been renting its space in the mornings to different summer school programs including Kennett High School, Kennett Preschool, Portageville, Gideon, and Clarkton School Districts.
Stokley added that the center is cooperative with renters and willing to open at their convenience in most circumstances.
"We open early in the mornings for the schools, because that is when the kids are in school," Stokley said.
The aquatic center charges $150 to rent the space for a two hour party, according to Stokley. She added that the maximum capacity of the center is 150 people, which is based on the size of the fenced-in area, not the size of the pool.
When the pool is at maximum capacity, a sign is used to inform individuals that the limit has been reached and to check back in 30 minutes, according to Stokley.
"We have had to hang this sign twice already this year," Stokley said.
She reminded that one life guard is on-duty for every 25 people at the facility, and currently 13 life guards are on staff, with two on-call in case of an emergency.
The life guards and pool management are involved with visitors to ensure safety and rules and regulations are followed, according to Stokley.
She added that lockers were available to individuals, but a personal lock would be needed to secure your private items.
Entry into the facility costs three dollars per person, Stokley noted.
The Sheryl Crow Aquatic Center is open Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., for family swim.
The aquatic center is located at 211 Kennett St., in Kennett, and can be contacted at (573) 888-5557.
