Rollan Day, 90, of Kennett, died Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Rollan Day, the son of the late Roy B. and Vera T. Owensby Day was born November 2, 1918, in Deering, Mo.
Rollan Day was united in marriage on April 30, 1945, to Ethel B. Schmidt in St. Louis, Mo. She preceded him in death on November 28, 1993. On October 24, 2002, he was united in marriage to Mattie Dee Goodwin, she preceded him in death in May 2002.
He serviced in the Army during WWII, after he returned home, he became a barber and went to work with his father in the Day's Barber Shop in Kennett. After his father passed away, Ronnie Harris joined him in the shop and they changed the name to Harris and Day Barber Shop, and he worked at the shop until his health made him slow down.
His favorite pass-time was playing and watching others play pool.
Survivors include one son, Michael O. Day, of San Diego, Calif.; one daughter, Valeria LaFont, of Paducah, Ky.; three grandchildren, Victoria LaFont, of Nevada City, Calif., and Joshua Day and Elizabeth Day, both of San Diego; one Great-grandchild, Ezeliel, of San Diego; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Byron and Jack Day.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 21, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with Rev. Gary Carter officiating.
Burial will be in the OakRidge Cemetery.
