According to Pemiscot-Dunklin Electric Cooperative 's General Manager, Charles Crawford, his organization was under the impression, based on the letter, that Arbyrd's council meeting would be held on Tuesday, rather than Monday, June 8, which is why a representative did not show up as planned.
Arbyrd's City Clerk, Erma Branum, said she was initially unaware that the letter mailed to the cooperative showed the wrong date, but has since spoken to Crawford, who informed Branum of the error. Crawford also explained to Branum that his organization had every intention on attending the meeting and would like the opportunity to attend the council's next meeting in July.
According to Branum, the council has received voiced concerns from community members about the billing cycles and rates with the city's new electric company. The invitation to the meeting was delivered so the council could discuss these issues and receive more information from the cooperative, Branum noted.
An update on the discussion between the council and co-op, regarding these concerns, will be released following next month's meeting.
