Ethel Julie Ward, 93, of Arbyrd, Mo., died Saturday, May 2, 2009, at her residence.
Born Dec. 23, 1915, in Leachville, Ark., daughter of the late Francis Eugene and Nancy Bell Edgin, she was a member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Leachville, Ark., where her father was the founder and minister.
On Aug. 7, 1936, in Osceola, Ark., she married Willie Odis Ward, who preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 1998. She was also preceded in death by one son, Howard Ward on Aug. 19, 1997; two brothers, John and Ralph Edgin; four sisters, Alice Edgin (infant sister), Bessie Edgin, Sug Woods and Maggie Mouser; one granddaughter and two grandsons who died in infancy.
Survivors include five sons, Earl Ward, Jerry Ward and wife, Kaye, Jim Ward and wife, Kaye, and Richard Ward and wife, Mary Jo, all of Arbyrd, and Morris Ward and wife, Linda, of Paragould, Ark.; one daughter, Karen Chipman, of Arbyrd; 24 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., today, Tuesday, May 5, at the Church of Lord Jesus Christ in Leachville with Rev. Randy Huddleston officiating.
Burial was in Leachville.
Pallbearers were Leslie Ward, Wesley Ward, Ray Crouse, Randall Carroll, Jason Coffel and Randy Huddleston.
Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Arbyrd was in charge of arrangements.
