Crissie Meredith

Crissie Meredeith, 89, Machesney Park, Ill., died Thursday, April 30, at Rockford Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Born Sept., 1919, in Fordsville, Ky., to Ray and Pearl Moxley, she lived 57 years in the Machesney Park area, coming here from Kennett. Married Wayne Meredeith in Kennett on Sept. 23, 1939. Crissie retired from National Lock Co., August 1967, on disability, after 13 years. She was a member of Fourth Avenue Baptist Church, the Eastview Baptist Church, the Halsted Road Baptist Church and now current member of First Baptist Church of Machesney Park. She valued family, church, and an honest day's work, above all.

Survivors include daughter, Iris M Brough, of Marshfield, Mass.; one son, Terrell Meredeith, of Machesney Park; one grandson, Alex (Susan) Brough, of Bedford, Mass.; great-grandchildren, Alex and Samantha Brough and sisters, Carolyn Edwards and Jane Smith.

She was preceded in death by husband, Wayne; parents; one sister, two brothers, and granddaughter Kimberly Brough.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Monday, May 4, 2009, at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 North Alpine Road, officiated by Rev. Kevin Kerr.

Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be designated at a later date.
