Born Sept. 9, 1931, in Cardwell, son of the late Chester and Katie Darden Summitt, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, a retired insurance agent and a member of the Antioch Church of Christ.
On May 13, 1989, in Campbell, Mo., he married Wilma Jean Mikel, who survives.
Survivors also include four sons, Paul Moody Summitt and Mary, of Columbia, Mo., Bruce Allen Summitt, of Cardwell, Steven and Delilah, of Piggott, Ark., and Mark and Donna Mikel, of Malden, Mo.; two daughters, Sandy Mikel, of Wardell, Mo., and Mickey and Kerry Deen, of Rolla, Mo.; two sisters, Glendola Harrison, of Cardwell and Ruth Geer, of Searcy, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert and Sherrill Summitt; two infant brothers; two infant sisters and a grandson.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., today, Thursday, April 30, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 1, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with David Flannery officiating.
Burial will follow in the Cardwell Cemetery.
Pallbearers are David Bowen, Tim Moore, Jeremy Moore, Bryan Golden, Mike Clark and John Paul Clark.
