Cape Girardeau, MO - Delta Companies hosted a tour for area legislators on Friday, April 24th. Legislators from the region spent the morning touring quarry sites, concrete and asphalt plants, and construction sites to gain a better understanding of the road-building process.

The day began with an overview of Delta Companies and a brief tutorial on the production of aggregates, asphalt, and concrete. Ric Neubert, President/CEO of Delta Companies, welcomed the legislators' visit. Following the tutorial, the group toured SEMO Stone, located in Cape Girardeau. While there, the group also received a tour of asphalt and concrete manufacturing plant.

The group then visited a construction site to see the application of asphalt just north of Cape Girardeau. "Following the review of operations and tour of facilities of Delta Companies Inc., I was encouraged by Delta's commitment to customers, employees, and the communities they serve. The company's diversity of operations and vastness of its economic impact is a tremendous asset to southeast Missouri and southern Illinois," said State Representative Steve Hodges.

Members of the legislative delegation included Representatives Ellen Brandom (R-Sikeston), Steve Hodges (D-East Prairie), Shelley Kenney (R-Marble Hill), and Clint Tracy (R-Cape Girardeau). "As we look around we see concrete everywhere. No one realizes what an integral role it has in our everyday life. The Delta Companies play a vital role in building our infrastructure. They are a major employer in our area and we are lucky to have them in Southeast Missouri. I really appreciated seeing how concrete and asphalt are produced. After the tour, I am more aware of the important role concrete plays in our lives," said State Representative Ellen Brandom.

In addition to aggregate, ready mix, and asphalt operations in Illinois and Arkansas, Delta Companies owns and operates Missouri quarries at Lodi and Shook as well as SEMO Stone in Cape Girardeau, Williamsville Stone in Poplar Bluff, and Brown Sand and Gravel in Caruthersville and Dexter. Delta Companies, Inc. also owns and operates concrete plants in Cape Girardeau, Jackson, Sikeston, Dexter, Poplar Bluff, Caruthersville and Kennett, as well as asphalt plants in Cape Girardeau, Sikeston, Poplar Bluff and New Madrid.
