Ona Duncan Gamble, 76, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2009, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett. She was born on March 20, 1933, to Noble H. and Ida Mae Bruton Duncan, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Rose Marie Garner, and grandson, Nicholas Gamble.
On Dec. 29, 1952, she married Gerald Gamble, and shared a loving and devoted marriage for 56 years. She is survived by her husband; three sons, Gary Gamble and wife Victoria, of LaPlace, La., Kevin Gamble and wife Rayeann, of Hot Springs, Ark., and John Gamble and wife Melanie, of Kennett; three granddaughters, Heather Nicole Gamble, of LaPlace, Hollye Granier and Heather Dunlap, both of Memphis, Tenn., and three great-grandchildren, Colson Gamble, of LaPlace, Logan Granier and Kayla Dunlap, both of Memphis, Tenn., and a brother, Jimmy Duncan and wife Jane, of Canfield, Ohio, and a host of other family and friends.
Mrs. Gamble was very active in the community, serving as President of the Lafemme Club and Den Mother of the Cub Scouts of America. She and her mother were in charge of the Delta Fair Foods Exhibit for many years. She was a faithful and dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be this evening, April 28, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 29, at 10:30 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church.
Joe Stillman, Brian Mitchell, Matt Shetley, Patrick McHaney, Johnny Dalton and Don Collins will serve as pallbearers.
Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.
Memorials may be made to the Delta Children's Home or the First United Methodist Church.
