With Monday's victory, the Tribe (8-6, 2-5 SEMO) has won five of its last six games
"We're starting to get on a little bit of a roll," Kennett coach Aaron New said. We're starting to come around as a team. Hopefully we're go to (keep) playing better at the right time."
The Indians got another strong pitching performance from junior lefty Trey Bazzell, who held NMCC to three hits and two runs in four innings of work while striking out eight and walking one.
"Trey's really thrown the ball well this year," said New. "He's been able to get a good start every time we've sent him out there. I hope he can continue it for the rest of the season."
Andy Lack led the Tribe with three hits, three runs scored and a double Monday, while Billy Fender, Gage Blue and Bazzell each added two hits. Bazzell and Blue also doubled while Bazzell drove in a pair of runs. Freshman Adam Grantham also added a solo home run to lead off the top of the fifth inning, the first of his high school career.
Kennett is off until next week when it kicks off play in the Bootheel Conference Tournament at Senath.
Campbell 12, Clarkton 0
At Clarkton, the visiting Camels scored six runs in the top of the fifth inning to break open a close game, then scored five more in the sixth to down the Reindeer.
Kyle Matthews started and picked up the win, going three innings allowing one hit while striking out six.
Offensively for the Camels (10-1), Dylan Lynn was 2-for-4 with four RBIs, while Matthews was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and the duo of Joe Campbell and Jake Nelson were each 2-for-4 and drove in a run.
Holcomb 12, Portageville 9
Corbin Clark went 5-for-5 as the Hornets defeated Portageville.
Holcomb travels to Gideon this afternoon and hosts Risco on Wednesday.
Softball
Southland splits road trip
The Lady Rebels went 1-1 on a Monday road trip, falling 8-5 at Campbell and defeating Gideon 12-9.
At Gideon, Southland pounded out nine hits and overcame six errors to post the win.
Darcy McMinn was 3-for-3 with four RBIs, a triple, a homer and four runs scored to pace the offense.
At Campbell, Southland fell victim to six errors and managed just two hits off the Lady Camels.
Bakich took the loss, giving up six earned runs while walking seven and giving up nine hits, striking out four.
McMinn also threw out a pair of basestealers against Campbell.
