The Federal Emergency Management Agency will make a $1,586,250 grant available to Dunklin County to assist with debris clean-up in Kennett, Cardwell, Hornersville, Malden, Senath, Clarkton and other areas in the county.

This news came on Thursday afternoon from the offices of U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08).

"The ice storm that devastated our region, and a grant of this size for cleanup in Dunklin County is a tremendous blessing for local governments facing extreme costs for their recovery efforts. It is extremely important to note that the recovery goes on for months after the storm. Even though it happened in January, I am grateful that FEMA did not take its eye off the ball," Emerson said.

"This grant will be a great help to county and local authorities, and it will help remove half-a-million cubic yards of debris from Dunklin County."

The grant is subject to a 25 percent cost share by state and local entities.
