The Votes are in: Officials release Dunklin County's Municipal Election results

The 2009 Municipal Election votes were tallied on Tuesday night, providing the anticipated results to all of the campaigning officials.

In Kennett, Jake Crafton, Larry McDowell, Roy Cunningham, Darell Wheeler, Trena Leach, and Tresa Churchwell ran unopposed for their respective positions.

Crafton received a total of 123 votes for his position as Kennett Councilman, Ward I. Kennett Councilman, Ward II, Larry McDowell, totaled 101 votes following the election. At 125 votes, Roy Cunningham was elected as Kennett Councilman, Ward IV. In Ward V, Darell Wheeler was the recipient of 117 votes. Trena Leach, City Collector, garnered 609 votes, while Tresa Churchwell, City Treasurer, received 581.

Bill Branum, Kennett Councilman, Ward III incumbent, received 69 votes to defeat his opponent, Jeff McCormick, who received 57.

In Hornersville, Mo., Richard Mara, Mayor incumbent, defeated Rondia Rauls, 128 to 108.

"I just want to thank the people that came out and voted, placing trust in me as mayor," Mara said. "I hope to keep the town moving forward in the future."

North Ward Alderman incumbent, Bruce Miller retained his position with 101 votes to Jeff F. Harris' 34.

South Ward Alderman, Phyllis Hamrick, ran unopposed and received a total of 90 votes from the turnout.

In Senath, Mo., the race for mayor went to Joe Lane, who received 250 votes, while opponent, Ronnie Newman, received 130.

"The win feels good, and I appreciate all of the people for their confidence in me as mayor," Lane said. "I will deliver a honest government and do the best job that I know how."

Omar Karnes defeated Joe McLain and Michael George for Senath City Marshall with 150 votes for Karnes, 128 for McLain, and 107 for George.

The Senath North Ward Alderman seat went to Ray Ivy with 60 votes, while opposing candidates Ricky Parker received 22 and Daryl Hopper received 37.

John Holmes, running unopposed for his seat as Senath Alderman South Ward (one-year term), received 216 votes, while Senath Alderman South Ward (2-year term) incumbent Patsy Davis, also running unopposed, received 227 votes.

In Arbyrd, Mo., the seat of North Ward Alderman went to Ron Branum, running unopposed, with 16 votes.

The seat of South Ward Alderman went to the incumbent Brent Pierce with 20 votes, while his opposition, Paul Phillips received 3 votes.

In Cardwell, Mo., Mayor incumbent, John Prince, running unopposed received 43 votes. Wanda Lee, North Ward Alderman incumbent, and Jack Sparks, South Ward Alderman incumbent, also ran unopposed with Lee receiving 23 votes and Sparks 17.

Independence Township Trustee and Treasurer incumbent, Mike Mungle, ran unopposed and received 688 votes. The two members of the board receiving seats were Ron Poe with 583, and Tommy McMahon with 443. Joe Brumely was the opposition receiving 328 votes.

Gene Holligan, Independence Clerk incumbent, ran unopposed and received 657 votes.

Holcomb, Mo., Bobby Hallum, Jerry McCormick, and Tricia Casper all ran unopposed. Hallum, for the Chief of Police position, received 80 votes, while McCormick, for North Ward Alderman, received 39, and Casper, for South Ward Alderman, also received 39.

Congrats to all in Senath those who won . And to all others congrats on your efforts and time to care for this city this was mostly a learning experience to some but thats the whole thing you have to keep on caring and i think all are great people chins up and try and try again
