Rebecca J. Seyer, age 48, of Edwardsville, Ill., formerly of Cardwell, Mo., passed away at 12:57 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2009, at St. Louis University Hospital after a long illness.
She was born January 11, 1961 in Hammond, Ind., the daughter of the late Gerald Donald and Cassie Lou Bishop.
She married Jeffrey Seyer June 8, 1985 in Cape Girardeau, Mo. He survives. Also surviving are two sons, Aaron J. Seyer, and Nicholas R. Seyer, both of Edwardsville; two brothers, Gerald W. (Mary) Bishop, of Rogers, Ark., and Steve Pierce, of Mobile, Ala.; three sisters, Naomi Bishop, of Edwardsville, Lynn (Taylor) Wells, of Aiken, S.C., and Katie Bishop, of North Little Rock, Ark.; her maternal grandmother, Laverne Bishop Stanley, of Cardwell, Mo.; 24 nieces and nephews; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.
Mrs. Seyer was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and worked as an accountant. Her family and her Christian faith were important in her life.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wed., April 8 at the funeral home with Rev. Taylor Wells officiating.
Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, Ill.
Memorials may be given to St. Jude Hospital for Children or to the Arthritis Foundation.
