Kennett's Katie Briscoe (12) battles for the ball with a Valley View player during Tueday's girls high school soccer match at Indian Park.
The Lady Blazers scored three unanswered goals to come away with a 3-1 victory over Kennett Tuesday at Indian Park.
"We played a real tough game," Kennett coach Holly Engle said. "I had real good forwards and they played really hard. We just had some bad luck. But the girls were tough and fast. ... That's the best I've seen them play togeter as a team."
Yiota Panousis took an assist from Elaine Hoskins and put it in the back of the net to give Kennett (0-2) the early 1-0 lead.
However, Valley View added a pair of goals before halftime to take the lead into the break, then added an insurance goal in the second half.
Sophomore goalkeeper Alexandra Brown played well again for Kennett (0-2) in the loss.
"Those girls were tough. She got banged up and beat up a little bit," said Engle. "But she's a tough goalie and she knows her game."
Kennett heads to Perryville to take on St. Vincent this evening in search of its first win.
"If we play the way we did today..." Engle said, "I think we'll definitely give them a run for their money."
Despite the 0-2 start, optimism remains high for the Lady Tribe.
"I think with how young a team we have, we may not have as much experience as the teams we play but we have the heart," said Engle. "And that's all we need."

Kennett 166, Doniphan 194
At Kennett Country Club, Sean Callewaert, Ryan Richardson and Justin Lynn all shot 40s to share individual medalist honors and lead the Tribe to another dual match victory.
"It's really good," Kennett coach Ken Garland said. "They kind of messed up a little bit on the last couple of holes or those three guys would have had (scores) in the 30s."
Kennett hasn't lost a dual or triangular match since 2007.
Randy Crawford, Jarrod Broadway and Ben Collins all shot 46s to round out the Tribe's scoring.
Kennett hosts Sikeston on Thursday.
"It feels really, really good to start off with a win," said Garland. "Hopefully we'll have a win on Thursday against Sikeston too."
