Effie Owens, 76, of Gideon, Mo., died Thursday, March 26, 2009, at Heritage Nursing Center in Kennett.
Born April 3, 1932, in Holland, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Calvin Alfred Edwards and Sarah Eva Smith Edwards.
On Oct. 27, 1949, she married Charles Everett Owens, who preceded her in death on June 12, 2006. She was also preceded in death by two sons, James Everett and Roger Dale Owens; one brother, Buddy Edwards and one great-grandson, Isaiah Keith Berry.
Survivors include three sons, Clyde Owens and wife, Angela and Coy Owens and wife, Connie, all of Kennett, and Claude Owens and wife, Redgie, of Gideon; five daughters, Darlene Owens, Marlene Owens, Glenda Owens and Charlene Owens, all of Peach Orchard, Mo., and Pearlene Joiner and husband, Tommy, of Sonora, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Freddie Edwards, of Jonesboro, Ark., and Barney Edwards, of Okeechobee, Fla.; two sisters, Ella Mae Wilson, of California, and Glenda Nelson, of Augusta, Ga., and other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 30, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Sheerin officiating.
Burial was in the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton, Mo.
Pallbearers were Billy, Daniel, Matthew and Christopher Owens, Sparky Lewis and Derek Beckner.
Honorary pallbearers were Robert and Joseph Joiner, Lance Sutton, J.L. Graham, Stephanie Owens, Misty Sutton, Priscilla Young, Nicki Van Dyke, Vicki Berry and Regina McClandon.
