Man flees county courthouse, active warrant results in arrest

Tuesday, March 31, 2009
Following a brief search, a 43-year-old Kennett man was arrested after fleeing the Dunklin County Courthouse, where he was being held awaiting the arrival of the Dunklin County Sheriff's Department.

According to Morris Lamber, an investigator for the Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney, at approximately 8:30 a.m., on Monday, March 30, Louis Davenport was in the Dunklin County Clerk's office for an unknown reason.

The clerk noticed that Davenport had an active warrant for third degree sexual misconduct, and she informed Lambert of the situation. Lambert approached Davenport and told him that he was under arrest.

While waiting on the Sheriff's Department to arrive, Lambert said Davenport "jumped up and ran."

With assistance from the Kennett Police Department (KPD), Davenport was located shortly thereafter near the 200 block of Cedar Street.

Officer Mark Dennis, with the KPD, arrested Davenport and turned him over to the Dunklin County Sheriff's Department.
