SENATH, Mo. -- The Senath Lion's Club hosted its 16th annual Chili Supper on Friday, where it recognized the workers who aided during the aftermath of the ice storm.

The annual event was considered a big success, according to Lion's Club member Kenny Johnson.

"This is the biggest turnout we have ever had," Johnson said.

The event, spear headed by Johnson's wife, Diane, drew a crowd of approximately 350 people. Diane Johnson has been the leader of the event for the last 16 years and is not even a member of the Lion's Club, according to Kenny Johnson.

"Each year the members of the Lion's Club just fill in where Diane needs us," Kenny Johnson said.

Concluding the event, the Lion's Club gave awards to individuals and businesses aiding the city during the aftermath of the ice storm. Recipients of these awards were Fire Chief Kent Montgomery, who represented the Senath Fire Department; Brandon Gardner, who represented his father Randy Gardner; Ramey's Manager Larry Carnell, who represented the entire staff of Ramey's Supermarket; Police Chief Omar Karnes, who represented the Senath Police Department; RayNell Ivy and Harvey Smith, who represented the Street Department and the Water Department; Kevin Sullivan and Roseanne French, who represented Sheila Jones and the Senath First Baptist Church; and Charlie Crawford, who represented Pemiscott-Dunklin County Cooperative.
