Wednesday morning collision leaves 2 seriously injured

A section of Highway 25 north of Kennett was temporarily shut down as emergency personnel responded to a two-vehicle collision at approximately 8:15 a.m.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper R.M. Walker, Wadhin Patnaik, 35, of Kennett, was traveling north on Highway 25 in a 2008 Toyota when he skidded into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a 1996 Chevrolet, driven by Danny Nixon, 24, of Holcomb, Mo.

Due to the amount of damage to his vehicle, Patnaik had to be extracted from his car.

Patnaik skidded into the path of Danny Nixon, of Holcomb, Mo., who drove the green Chevrolet, hitting him head-on.

Both Patnaik and Nixon suffered serious injuries and were transported by ambulance to Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Dunklin County Sheriff's Department, Kennett Fire Department, and Medic One Ambulance Service responded to the scene.

wow lucky no one was killed. that is a scary thing to think about having a head on collision, thankfully neither one was on a motorcycle either.

this is when it should be clear that ppl should pay better attention to the roads and their vehicles.
