The city used extra funds for work completed on the generators and on backfield work moving debris, according to Mayor Lonnie Gibson, Jr.
"The debris removal has been worked mostly by volunteers up to this point, and the city's removal will probably take longer than the county's and other cities'," Gibson noted.
Another expense the city is aware of were the generators used to provide power during the outage. The city had its own generators running, along with generators provided by FEMA, added Gibson. Not only will the city look for reimbursement on the generators, but also on the fuel used to run both the owned and provided generators.
Currently, the city has found minimal electrical problems caused by the use of the generators, according to Gibson.
"We have one pump that may have been damaged by the electrical surges," Gibson said.
The city is still reviewing property and equipment for damages and collecting information on all reimbursable work and items.
