Born Mary Ellen Webb "Tiny", July 18, 1924, in White Oak, Mo., the oldest of nine children born to Irene "Dolly" Wilson and Howard L. Webb of Dunklin County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim "Mac" Smith; one son, Greg and daughter-in-law, Song Smith; three brothers, Glen, Donald P., and Charles L. Webb.
Survivors include one daughter, Marsha (Andy Smith), of San Dimas, Calif.; two sons, Michael and Kent Smith (Cherylin), of Covina, Calif.; three brothers, Howard E.Webb (Bernice), of St. Louis, Mo., Jerry R. Webb (Peggy), of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Miles L. Webb (Kathy), of Plymouth, Minn.; one sister, Karen E. Webb, of the Seattle area; two grandsons, Jeffrey Smith, of Covina, and Jeromey Smith (Jessica Banner), of Templeton, CAlif., and one great-granddaughter, Jade Smith , of Templeton.
She and Jim came to the San Gabriel Valley in 1946. She had lived in the same house since 1963. She was a past president of Glen Oak V.F.W. Post 3868 Auxilary and an active member of Azusa (Secretary to the Minister) Church of Christ and Duarte Church of Chrsit, where she sang every Sunday. She helped found Sonrise Christian School, worked in the offices of both Lucky lager in Ausa, Vita-Pakt in Covina and was account for her church's associated Christian Children's Adoption Service. She loved to play cards, fish, bowl, travel and garden, but singing was her passion and she had been a member of the San Gabriel Valley Philarmonica Chorale. From 1998 to 2003, she was a classroom volunteer at Badillo Elementary School helping in her daughter's kindergarten class. As her children grew, there was seldom an activity in which she didn't support them. She has touched many lives and leaves many friends and relatives behind who will miss her.
Services were held at Oakdale Memorial Park in Glendora, Calif.
