Langdon Edwin Jones, of Kennett, son of the late Langdon R. Jones and Node Benson Jones, was born Feb. 4, 1924, in Kennett and departed this life Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, at the age of 85 years and 21 days.
On April 12, 1947, he married Jean Alexander, who preceded him in death on Sept. 9, 1993. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Laurel Jones Jamieson and one brother, Robert H. Jones.
Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Jones Mercier and husband, Jules H., and Karen Jones Nichols and husband, John, all of Kennett; two grandchildren, Alex Napier and wife, Tracie, of Hernando, Miss., and Jay Mercier, of Kennett; a special great-grandchild, Ronaldo Guerrero; one great-grandchild, Illiondra Jean Mercier, of Kennett; one step-grandson, Jason Nichols, of Kennett; one sister, Martha Jane Southern, of Hot Springs, Ark., and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 27, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, at the First Christian Church in Kennett with Rev. Dustin Morris officiating.
Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers are Isidro Guerrero, Jordan Napier, Morris Huffstutler, Andy Byrd, Stephen Sokoloff and Brian Mitchell.
Honorary pallbearers are Virginia Tarver, Carol Womble, Shaun Green, Verlon Phelps, J.R. Early, Jr., and John Tant.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, First Baptist Church Building Fund or Delta Children's Home.
