Violet Gertrude Monday, 94, of Hornersville, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born April 14, 1914, in Conway, Ark., daughter of the late Alvin Claudie and Nancy Elizabeth Evans Caudell, she was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church in Hornersville.
On March 1, 1933, in Conway, she married Nathaniel Herschal Monday, who preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 1987. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and nine sisters.
Survivors include three sons, James Monday, of Oppelo, Ark., Don Monday, of Kennett and Richard Monday, of Villa-Ridge, Mo.; two daughters, Marjorie Coupal, of Hornersville and Freda Clements, of Morrison, Mo.; two sisters, Edith Leach, of Salt Lake City, Utah and Martha Louise Wade, of Russellville, Ark.; 18 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., today, Tuesday, Feb. 24, at the Bradshaw-Emerson Funeral Home in Hornersville.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 25, at the First Baptist Church in Hornersville with Revs. Paul Moore and Dale Rickman officiating.
Burial will follow in the Horner Cemetery at Hornersville.
Pallbearers are Troy, Javis, Leroy, Joe, Floyd and Al Douglas.
Honorary pallbearers are Paul Cottes, Jr., and Pat Clements.
