Born May 6, 1919, in Yell County, Ark., daughter of the late Sam and Lela Gilkey Cowell, she was employed at Gideon-Anderson Box Plant in Gideon, Mo., and Service Paper Box Co., in St. Louis, Mo. She was a member of First Pentecostal Church in Malden and then Victory Tabernacle in Festus, Mo.
On Dec. 2, 1937, she married George Napier, who died Sept. 19, 1993. She married James Wilbert Brinkley on Sept. 16, 1989. He preceded her in death on June 28, 1997. She was also preceded in death by three daughters, Alice Faye Lewis, and Lela Mae and Dorothy Jean Napier; three brothers, Jim, Charlie and Riley Cowell; one sister, Ida Alexander; one half-sister, Sina Kimbrigh and one grandchild, Ricky Ackridge.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Fisher and husband, Eddie, of Pevely, Mo., Shirley Kern and husband, Robert, of Crystal City, and Elane Napier, of DeSoto, Mo.; one son, Dan Napier and wife, Linda, of Defiance, Mo.; two sisters, Nellie Henson, of Memphis, Tenn., and Cora Gregory and husband, Johnny, of Malden; three brothers, Frank Cowell and wife, Vernetta, of Mammoth Springs, Ark., Tommy Cowell and wife, Sharon, of Swartz Creek, Mich., and Sam Cowell and wife, Sandy, of Waterford, Mich.; one half-sister, Walcy Freeman, of Washington, D.C.; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., today, Friday, Feb. 20, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Larry Keltner officiating.
Burial will follow in the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton, Mo.
