Veda Jewell Chailland, 83, of Bell City, Mo., died Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born Dec. 20, 1925 in Kennett, Mo., daughter of the late Perry Ransom and Pearl Brotherton Bennett, she was a 1944 graduate of Hornersville High School, and had worked at Thorngates in Chaffee, Mo. She was a member of the General Baptist Church in Bell City.
On Nov. 9, 1944 in Piggott, Ark., she married Herman Lee Chailland, who preceded her in death on March 16, 1996.
Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Chailland, of Herculaneum, Mo., James Chailland, of Oran, Mo., and Craig Chailland, of Farmington, Mo.; three daughters, Judith Hinkle, of Advance, Mo., Kathy Thomas, of St. Louis, Mo., and Barbara Grubbs, of Dexter, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m.,, Monday, Feb. 9, at the Morgan Funeral Home in Advance with Rev. James Johns officiating.
Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Advance.
