Jewel Irene Duckworth, 97. of Hayti, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at Hayti.
Born March 12, 1911, in Savannah, Tenn., daughter of the late Melvin and Perlie McMullen Poole, she operated a grocery store in the Stanley Community and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Hayti.
On Sept. 28, 1928, in Savannah, she married Joseph J. Duckworth, who preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 1969. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Frankie Kemp.
Survivors include her children, Maxine Hayes and husband, Bill, of Portageville, Mo., Robbie Klinkhardt, of Hayti, Jack Duckworth and wife, Sandy, of Pendleton, Ind., and Gene Duckworth and wife, Doris, of Oakland, Ark.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., today, Tuesday, Feb. 10, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with Bros. Doug Wahls and Jack Duckworth officiating.
Pallbearers were David and Mike Duckworth, Ronnie Hayes, Brandon Stracener, Hunter Vaughn and Ricky Laster.
