On Dec. 24, 1940, in Portageville, Mo., he married Mary Edith Harper, who preceded him in death on Dec. 19, 1999. Of that union nine children were born. His surviving children are five sons, Jerry and wife, Linda, of Greenfield, Tenn., Danny and wife, Sandy, of Polo, Mo., Charlie and wife, Billie Ann, of Kennett, Gaylon, of Piggott, Ark., and Mike and wife, Peggy, of Piggott, and one daughter, Sherrye Gage-Goodrich, of Jonesboro, Ark. Three sons, Lonnie, Rickey and Don preceded him in death. He is survived by two brothers, Bill Gage of Kennett, and Troy Gage, of Neosha, Mo., and a sister, Virginia Gage-Hill, of Wappapello, Mo. Three brothers preceded him in death, Jim Gage, of St. Louis, Mo., Junior Gage of Kennett and Monroe Gage, of Wappapello. He also leaves behind a dear companion, Beatrice Highly, of Caruthersville, Mo. He has 17 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 25, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 26, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Hansen, of Red Wing, Minn., and Rev. Robert Cox.
Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers are his grandsons, Tim Gage, Scott Gage, Mark Gage, Thorn Gage, Mikie Gage, Phil Gage and Nick Goodrich..
Honorary pallbearers are his granddaughters, Cindy Hansen, Lynn Ramsey, Missy Galey, Jerri Ann Guss, Capi Pease, Michele Gage, Jaime Lewis, Shawn Gage and Amber Ward.
