Horace Weldon Hughes, 77, of Warrensburg, Mo., formerly of Caruthersville, Mo., died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg.
Born Feb. 17, 1931, in Halls, Tenn., son of the late Mallie and Georgia Anes Dial Hughes, he was employed at Brown Shoe Company in Caruthersville, and retired from United Machine Corporation.
On May 21, 1955, he married Delpha Joyce Maners, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Butha Faii Hughes.
Survivors include two daughters, Kitty Teeter and husband, David, of Warrensburg, and Terri Kinney and husband, Chris, of Anderson, Ind.; two brothers, York and Dalton Reb Hughes; one sister, Brenda Hughes Roberts; two granddaughters, Chasity Womble and Lauren Kinney; five grandsons, Kyle and Grant Kinney and Scott, Josh and Dustin Teeter; one great-granddaughter, Halle Womble and three great-grandsons, Eli, Noah and Christian Teeter.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 17, at Central Church of Christ in Caruthersville with Bro. Mike McDaniel officiating.
Burial was in the Maple Cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Danny, P.G. and Parker Maners, Buster Pylate, James Mott and Kyle Kinney.
Honorary pallbearers were Perry McDonald, Sammie Womble and Alton Roberts.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
