Lena Cross
Lena Cross, 96, of Kennett, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at National HealthCare in Kennett.

Born Dec. 6, 1911, in Olive Hill, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late James Madison and Cora Lee Sizemore Bowling.

On March 15, 1930, she married Virgil Cross, who preceded her in death on June 8, 1990. She was also preceded in death by one son, Edward Cross; one daughter, Margie Hyatt; four brothers, Will, Jim, Joe and Luther Bowling; one sister, Mary McLain, and three grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Doris Jackson, of Kennett and Wanda Newman, of Senath, Mo., 10 grandchildren, Stephen Cross, Paul, Freddie and Randy Newman, Tim Jackson, Glenda and Jim Hyatt, Dennis and Danny Cross and Tammy Hays, and several great and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., today, Thursday, Jan. 8, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with Spencer Furby officiating.

Burial was in the McGrew Cemetery at Senath.

Pallbearers were Freddie and Randy Newman, Jeremy Crawford, Tim Jackson, Matt Dement and Leonard Boggs.
