Born Oct. 12, 1918, in Hayti, Mo., son of the late John and Florence Johnson Alsup, he was a U.S. WWII veteran, a pharmacist for Baskin's Drug and the Pemiscot Memorial Hospital, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Caruthersville.
On Feb. 4, 1945, he married Hermenna Adams, who preceded him in death on Jan. 15, 2005. He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Geraldine Alsup Phillips, Jewel Irene Stephens, Laura Belle Wilbanks and Lois Imogene Lowery.
Survivors include nephews and nieces, Richard John Wilbanks, of Dallas, Texas, James Robert Stephens, Birmingham, Ala., Norma Kay Lancaster, Odessa, Fla., Terry Etling, St. Louis, Mo., and Judith Ann Drone, of New Providence, N.J.; adopted niece, Sandra Barnes, of Caruthersville; a sister-in-law, Wilma Cecil, of St. Louis and caregiver, Brenda Lloyd.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, Jan 5, in the Pemiscot Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Caruthersvlle with Dr. Paul Currie officiating.
Pallbearers were family and friends.
John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of arrangements.
