Charles Joe Hester I, 61, of Malden, Mo., died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born July 8, 1947, in Hillsboro, Ill., son of Kate Margaret Griffin Hester and the late John Henry Hester, he was a former member of the Granite City Moose Lodge and Eagles Club in Granite City.
On July 2, 1992, in Piggott, Ark., he married Brenda Faye Garner, who survives.
Survivors also include one daughter, Cathi Wattt, of Poolville, Texas; one son, Charles Hester II and wife, Gail, of Troy, Ill.; one step-son, Chris Smith and wife, Brooke, of Walnut Hill, Ill.; one step-daughter, Monica Davis and husband, Trey, of Malden; his mother, Margaret Hester, of Troy; one sister, Betty Wiwczaroski and husband, Mike, of Troy and 11 grandchildren, Kira, Tia and Jada Watt, Charles Hester III, Nicole Hester, Ashley Smith, Blake Wagster, Layton, Madison and Tad Davis and Whitney Kearbey.
He was preceded in death by one step-daughter, Michelle Crews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., today, Tuesday, Jan. 6, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with Rev. Roscoe Gray officiating.
Burial was in the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton, Mo.
