Born in Oklahoma on July 19, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Charley Albert and Mary Lucille (Paine) Pinkston. On May 19, 1975, she was united in marriage to Johnny Smith, who preceded her in death on June 5, 1986. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Charley Albert Pinkston and Elbert Pinkston; and two sisters, Glendola Pinkston and Jessie Marie Pinkston.
Surviving are four daughters, Louise (Karl) Slaughter of Lakeland, Fla., Glenda Haynes of Clarkton, Paula (Paul) Johnson of Bernie and Phyllis (Paul) Burt of Fayetteville, Ga.; one son, Gene (Judy) Pinkston of Doniphan; one sister, Maragret Pettit Dunahee of Collinsville, Ill.; one brother, James Pinkston of Huntington Beach, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation and funeral services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 30, in the Bradshaw Funeral Chapel at Malden with the Rev. James Clonts officiating the services. Burial was in the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton. Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of arrangements.
