Born Dec. 20, 1947, in Kennett, son of the late Elvie and Nellie Faulkerson McElyea, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Vietnam and received the Purple Heart. He was a truck driver and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen Hastings and Debbie Taylor, both of Selma, N.C., and Trudy Neese, of Tennessee; four sons, Glen McElyea Jr., of Cabot, Ark., Joe Coleman, of Loris, S.C., Hank Neese, of Blytheville and Paul Coleman, of Tarkington, Texas; one sister, Connie Wotring, of Coldwater, Mich.; one brother, Bud McElyea, of Kennett; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., today, Tuesday, Dec. 23, at the Wilson Funeral Home in Blytheville with Bro. Gary Andrews officiating.
Burial will be in the Gregory Cemetery at Kennett.
