Joe Bob Banks, 78, of Hayti, Mo., died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at his residence.
Born Dec. 23, 1929, in Savannah, Tenn., son of the late James and Georgia Young Banks, he was a truck driver, front and loader operator, ferry deckhand and a farm laborer. He was employed at Taylor Sand and Gravel.
On Dec. 2, 1951, in Savannah, Tenn., he married Earline Ragan, who survives.
Survivors also include his children, Deborah Montgomery, of Gideon, Mo., Tommy Banks, of Half Moon, Ark., Patty Wahls and husband, Doug, and Christopher Banks, all of Hayti, and Nickey Banks, of Cordova, Tenn.; one sister, Willie Hollins, of Savannah; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Cathy Banks; three brothers, Jamie, Harve and J.C. Banks and three sisters, Lina Clement, Bertie Creekmore and Mattie Holt.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 12, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with Revs. Doug Wahls and Charles Callens officiating.
Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were Nathan and Chris Banks, Kalie House, Brian Frye, Robert Montgomery and Rob Vaness.
