Dorothy Vergene Brown, 84, of Gideon, Mo., died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at her residence.
Born May 20, 1924, in Rector, Ark., daughter of the late Hubert and Ruth Milbourn Wright, she was employed as a cook at Ridgeview Nursing Home and a member of the First Baptist Church in Gideon.
She married Hubert Bostic, who preceded her in death. On June 17, 1955, in Piggott, Ark., she married Elgin Brown, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, Jackie Bostic; three sisters; two brothers; one grandson, Don Moore Jr.; one granddaughter, Alina Bostic, and one great-grandson, Justin Moore.
Survivors include four children, Joe Bostic and wife, Carmen, of Bonne Terre, Mo., Mary Moore and husband, Don, of Lake Wappapello, Mo., and Jim Bostic and Elgin Brown Jr., both of Gideon.; 18 grandchildren; several step-grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., today, Tuesday, Dec. 16, at the Landess Funeral Home in Malden, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 17, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Burchet officiating.
Burial will follow in the Rosewood Cemetery, First Addition in Malden.
