LaVerne Edmonson

LaVerne Edmonson, 88, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at the Caruthersville Nursing Center.

Born Dec. 22, 1919, in Gerald, Mo., daughter of the late Edwin and Madge Fitzgerald Vemmer, she was employed at American Airlines and was a social worker with the Department of Family Services.

On Jan. 10, 1948, in Gerald, she married Robert A. Edmonson, who survives.

Survivors also include two daughters, Patricia Abbot and husband, Mike, of Caruthersville and JoAnne Ciperson, of Olney, Md.; one son, Dean E. Edmonson, of Seattle, Wash.; one sister, Anna Mae Launch; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, Dec. 9, in the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery at St. Louis, Mo. with Rev. Dr. Paul Currie officiating.

H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
