Born to the late William and Laura Rollins in Holcomb, Mo., on May 15, 1921. On April 25, 1940, she married Troy Wilson, who preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 1993. On Sept. 4, 1995, she married Owen Lightfoot, of Homewood, Ala., who survives.
Other survivors include her children, June and Ron Pitts, of Kennett, Rollin Troy "Corky" and Judy Wilson, of Bell City, Mo., and Mary and Ron Stone, of Piggott, Ark.
Grandchildren include Carmen Hobbs and husband, Rick, Jody Pitts and wife, Lisa, Brian Wilson and wife, Lori, Jeremy Wilson and wife, Jodie, Aaron Schnurbusch and wife, Starla, and Joshua Stone. One grandson, Samuel Ross, preceded her in death.
She leaves behind nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, and two step-children, Bonnie and Wayne Remke and Daniel and Cathy Lightfoot, and four step-grandchildren, all of Birmingham, Ala.
Berniece was preceded in death by six brothers, Willis, Harry, Lester, Curtis, Doyne and Donald Rollins, and by three sisters, Agnes Rollins, Jewel Rollins Thompson, and Willa Bea Rollins Truitt.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 6, at McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Family visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Public visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Berniece Wilson Lightfoot lived a long and productive life. She dedicated her life's work to the developmentally disabled children of Southeast Missouri. She was a pioneer in this field, being the first individual to hold a masters degree in Special Education in the state of Missouri.
