Melvin Henry Stanfield, 72, of Gideon, Mo., died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Born Jan. 10, 1936, in Wardell, Mo., son of the late John Henry and Ruby Ethel Ryans Stanfield, he was a farmer and a member of Huey Baptist Church in Gideon.

On March 13, 1954, in Wardell, he married Anna Jane Roberts, who survives.

Survivors also include two sons, Wayne Stanfield and wife, Rhonda and Tim Stanfield and wife, Tina, all of Gideon; two daughters, Debbie Pratte, of Gideon and Paula Kinchen, of Dexter, Mo.; one brother, Jessie Stanfield, of Oxley, Mo.; three sisters, Belle Ryker, of Yale, Okla., Paulette Berry, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Edith Crafton, of Louisville, Ky.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Stanfield and one sister, Mary Bonds.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., Friday, Nov. 28, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Gideon.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 29, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bruce Vinson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton, Mo.
