Hubert Hood, 79, of Double Springs, Ala., formerly of Pemiscot County, Mo., died Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at Russellville, Ala.
Born April 30, 1929, in Winston, Ala., son of the late Jim and Pearl Brannon Hood, he was a farmer and worked in sawmills.
Survivors include his children, Raven Millwood, of Double Springs, Tommy Smith, of Lynn, Ala., Brinda Marks, of Hayti, Mo., Gale Casey, of Finley, Tenn., Jane Dodson, of Holland, Mo., Regina Gregory and Neal Hood, both of Kennett and Ann Simpson, of Manila, Ark.; two sisters, Louise Johnson, of Portageville, Mo., and Brenda Hunt, of Steele, Mo.; three brothers, Travis Hood, of Loretta, Tenn., Burtis Hood, of Jasper, Ala., and Mack Hood, of Double Springs; 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and L.V. Hood and one sister, Purney Carter.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 24, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with Rev. Paul Quinn officiating.
Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were his grandchildren.
