Flake L. McHaney, 88, of Kennett, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008.

Born Sept. 25, 1920, in White Oak, Mo., he was the son of the late James Flake and Annie Barham McHaney.

On May 30, 1959, he married Ada Hinson, who survives.

Survivors also include two sons Patrick Hal McHaney and wife, Heather Hilburn McHaney, of Kennett and James Flake McHaney, of Denver Colorado; three grandsons, Samuel Flake, Heath Patrick and Jackson Hal McHaney, all of Kennett; one brother, Robert H. McHaney, of Corpus Christi, Texas and a sister-in-law, Lorene Shipman Owens, of Kennett.

He was preceded in death by his brothers and their spouses, Hal H. McHaney and Beulah Hale McHaney , Dr. John W. McHaney and Ruth McHaney, Powell B. McHaney and Ida Ann McHaney and John S. Owens.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 26, at the First Presbyterian Church in Kennett with Rev Jocelyn VanBuskirk officiating. A reception will follow in the Presbyterian Activity Center.
