Academy raising money for sports equipment

Sunday, November 23, 2008
Kennett Christian Academy Lady Eagles has begun a Kennett designed fundraiser named Kennett-opoly to purchase sports equipment.

The Kennett Christian Academy (KCA) is the church school of First United Pentecostal Church of Kennett. KCA has not been involved in competition sports for nearly 10 years. The plan is for KCA to compete in ladies varsity volleyball at the beginning of the 2009-2010 year.

The team is committed to practicing throughout the off season. This practicing is to ensure that the players are prepared for the competition next fall.

Kennett-opoly is a game that is similar to the popular monopoly board games. The game will be personalized with hometown spaces. The spaces on the board will be sold as ads to individuals and businesses in the city. After the ad spaces are sold, the board will be ordered and sold throughout the community.

Individuals who are looking to memorialize someone in the family can use the advertising spaces as "In Memory of" or "On Behalf of." Other ideas can be brought to the attention of KCA. Individuals interested in purchasing advertising space should send their name, address, phone number, and ad choice to Dedra Barkley 939 Floyd Ct. Kennett, Mo. 63857 or e-mail the information to Kennetteagles@gmail.com. If anyone has historical pictures of Kennett that would be helpful to the game please contact Barkley.
