Johnnie Mae Young, 71, of Hayti, Mo., died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at Hayti.
Born Dec. 20, 1936, in Widener, Ark., daughter of the late Canary Lawrence, she attended Central School in Hayti and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters, Dora Morgan and husband, James, of Sikeston, Mo., and Angela Banks, of Killeen, Texas; one sister, Mildred Lawrence, of Hayti; two brothers, James Lawrence and Elvester Lawrence and wife, Norma, all of St. Louis, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Allie Brunson, of St. Louis; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Young; one son, Bobby Brunson and two sisters, Carolyn Lawrence and Julia Hale.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 15, in the Cedar Baptist Church at Hayti with Pastor Darion Thomas officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were Gary Edwards, Levar Morgan, Jason Brunson, Andre Morgan, Martez Young and Gary Edwards II.
John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of arrangements.
