Kennett resident Steven Pellham will be donating his "locks" at an upcoming "Locks of Love" dinner that will be presented by the Jonesboro Elks Lodge.

Pellham, a graduate of Kennett High School and Arkansas State University, is the son-in-law of Elks member Ted Formon, and his wife, Cari. Pellham will be donating his "locks" in honor of Cari Formon, breast cancer survivor, Tony Tidwell, lip and gum cancer survivor, and in memory of Pellham's uncle, Randy Davenport, who passed away in August 2008 due to pancreatic cancer.

"I wanted to do something to contribute to [the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network]," Pellham said.

Pellham has been growing his hair for the cause for more than a year.

Hair stylist Mike Parr, also of Kennett, will be cutting the hair that is to be donated. Parr, who has lived and styled hair in Nashville, Tenn. for 20 years, recently moved back to Kennett and opened a salon, located next to Sun Splash on Jones Street.

"[The Formon's and Pellham's] are just great friends of mine and that is how I got involved," Parr said.

Also donating hair that evening will be Cari Formon's niece, Laura Hathcoat.

The "Locks of Love" dinner will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, and will consist of a dinner of prime rib, twice baked potato, salad, and chocolate fountain desserts. The cost of the dinner is $18 per person. All proceeds and donations will go to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

Following the dinner, there will be dancing from 7:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. with music by The Brewers.

Advance dinner reservations are required and should be made no later than Thursday, Oct. 16, by contacting the Mary Gross at (870) 761-4970 or (870) 932-5847.

Kennett residents wishing to make a contribution or that would like to make a dinner reservation can contact Steven Pellham at (573) 344-1762.
