Born July 14, 1930, in Huntsville, Ala., son of the late Ernest Odell and Nancy Smith Brooks, he was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, a farmer and a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion.
On Jan. 28, 2005, in Piggott, Ark., he married Christina Lemonds, who survives.
Survivors also include four sons, Glen Brooks and wife, Marilyn, of Bay Point, Texas, Joe Wesley Brooks, of Dover, Ark., Paul Brooks and wife, Denise, and Phillip Brooks, all of Columbia, Mo.; one step-daughter, Deborah Christy, of Memphis, Tenn.; one brother, Edward Brooks and wife, Betty, of Fayetteville, Tenn.; one sister, Merle Clemons, of Salt Lake City, Utah; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Hairm Brooks.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 11, at the John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti with Bro. Doug Wahls officiating.
Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were Brian and Bobby Irions, Martin Ray, Timmy Gardner, Marty Gallaher and Doug Wahls.
