Mary Opal Brooks, 70, of Gideon, Mo., died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, at Golden Living Center in Bloomfield, Mo.

Born Feb. 13, 1938, in Sikeston, Mo., daughter of the late Landon Garvin and Mary Alice Stone Sterling, she was a member of the Solid Rock Church in Clarkton, Mo.

Survivors include eight daughters, Judy Hise, of Sikeston, Mo., Myra Howell, of California, Delores Ford, of Clarkton, Brenda Wellington, of Malden, Mo., Joyce Akthar, of Kennett, Anita Scheible, of Bell City, Mo., Barbara Hastings, of LaCenter, Ky., and Shounia Abbott, of Long Beach, Calif.; three sons, Curtis Myers, of Bernie, Mo., Glen Myers, of Clarkton, and Jerry Myers, of Campbell, Mo.; four sisters, Dorothy Patrick, of Charleston, Mo., Phyllis marks, of Sikeston, LaDonna Brooks, of Kennett, and Wilma Lee, of Las Vegas, Nev.; two brothers, Eugene Sterling, of Las Vegas, and William Sterling, of Sikeston; 24 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 7 p.m., today, Friday, Oct. 10, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Danny King officiating.

Burial will follow in the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton.
