Oral Fortner, 97, of Dexter, Mo., died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, at the Golden Living Center in Dexter.
Born Dec. 29, 1910, in Scurry, Texas, son of the late William Terrill and Clennie Dill Fortner, he was owner of a television repair shop in Cardwell, Mo., and a member of the Dexter Church of Christ.
On April 23, 1930, in Cardwell, he married Jewell Carlisle, who preceded him in death on Oct. 4, 1987. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Clyde Fortner.
Survivors include one son, Robert G. Fortner, of Stone Mountain, Ga.; one daughter, Joyce Wilson Lacey, of Dexter; two sisters, Opal Given, of Lake City, Ark., and Cleo Heath, of Paragould, Ark.; four grandchildren, DeRonda Wade, Brenda Mason, Mike Fortner and Tanya Davidson; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 10, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home Chapel with Don Barr officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
