Grammy-winning singer and Kennett native Sheryl Crow recently launched a new western/folked inspired casual denim clothing line dubbed Bootheel Trading Company (BTC).

"I've always been kind of a jeans girl," Crow said.

The first line of products will consist of 27 pieces which have been developed by Crow's personal stylist and inspired from pieces of Crow's own wardrobe.

In addition to jeans, Crow's line has knit and woven tops, as well as vests and T's. The name of each jean can be found on the inside left front hip. Crow has even named one design after her hometown.

"I want to be able to provide a cool look for anybody, but particularly for those gals out there that have a fashion sense and want to feel good but can't afford to buy the high-end stuff," Crow said.

According to SherlyCrow.com, the line is similar to what you would catch Crow wearing on a "casual day out or even while rocking out with her guitar at a concert."

"The Bootheel Trading Company came out of Sheryl's lifetime experiences here in Kennett and Southeast Missouri," said Bernice Crow, Sheryl's mother. "The collection is inspired by the kind of clothes she loves to wear -- stylish jeans and feminine tops with a little hint of western cowgirl."

The Fall collection has jeans in a variety of vintage washes, all boasting a flattering, as well as comfortable, easy fit, according to the Sheryl's Web site. The jeans come in styles with names like Missouri, Nashville, Georgia, Memphis, and even Kennett. The style name can be found on a patch on the inside on the front, left hip. All denim is washed with organic enzymes and red stones.

There are several tops to go along with the collection as well. Tops include knit and woven shirts, henleys, hoodies, vests, and graphic T-shirts.

"I've spent years collecting some of the most amazing pieces and never thought that I would be able to bring the spirit of this vintage, laid-back fashion to life with comparable quality at a price with every woman in mind," Crow said.

During the month of October, 10 percent of the proceeds from the purchase of any item from the BTC collection will be donated to Revlon/UCLA Breast Center and the Revlon/UCLA Women's Cancer Research Program.

The collection is available at Dillard's department stores and in Kennett at Dollins'.

According to Holly Dollins, the Kennett style is his number one seller, followed by the Missouri style.

"The response has been really good," said Linda Dollins, Holly's wife.

"We sold 30 pair of jeans the first day we had them in stock," said Holly. "Whatever they run, we're going to buy and sell it."

Holly also noted that he is going to donate five percent of each order to the Delta Children's Home.

BTC also does a small part for the environment by using labeling that has been made from sustainable or recyclable materials.

VERY nice to see Sheryl and Holly donating part of the proceeds to worthwhile causes; SO nice to see good news for a refreshing change!
