Born Jan. 15, 1945, in Blytheville, Ark., son of Frances Britton Bailey and the late Morris Bailey, he attended school in Caruthersville, a U.S. Navy veteran and was employed by the Army Corps of Engineers. He attended the First Presbyterian Church in Caruthersville.
On Sept. 1, 1987, in Caruthersville, he married Beth Medlin, who survives.
Survivors also include one daughter, Leslie Bailey, of Jonesboro, Ark.; one son, John Michael Bailey, of Paris Island, S.C.; his mother, Frances Bailey, of Caruthersville and three brothers, Jack Bailey and wife, Judy, Robert Bailey and wife, Betty and Harry Bailey, all of Caruthersville.
Memorial services were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with the Rev. Kenny Lee officiating.
Burial with military honors was held in the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville.
