Verla Batchelor Fry, 77, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., formerly of Malden, Mo., died Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 13, 1931, in Bear Creek, Ala., daughter of the late Billy and Mary Etter Davis, she was a nurses aide at General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell, Mo., and a member of the Second General Baptist Church in Malden.
On Sept. 27, 1946, in Bloomfield, Mo., she married Raymond Batchelor, who preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1998. She later married O.C. Fry, who preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 2006. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Danny Batchelor and wife, Dena, and Brian Batchelor, all of Poplar Bluff; one daughter, Diana Baker, of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Pauline Beckham, of New Madrid, Mo., and Irene Burrell, of Haleyville, Ala.; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the Landess Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Gore officiating.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
