Virgil Lee McElyea, 86, of Kennett, passed away Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at his residence.
Born Dec. 20, 1921, he was the son of Richard and Della Crayne McElyea.
He married Mary Young who preceded him in death in 1973. He married Christiane Marie-Louise Dudney on March 23, 1974 in Caruthersville, Mo. She survives.
Survivors also include two daughters, Viretta Sexton of Kennett, and Shirley Marie and Charles Edward Maronay, Jr. of Wappapello, Mo.; one son, Larry Gene Dudney, of Caruthersville, Mo.; grandchildren, Dr. Natasia and Dr. Cliff Cain, of Franklin, Ind., Luke and Angie Sexton, of Memphis, Tenn., Larry Maronay, of Dexter, Mo., Christopher and Kim Maronay, of Dexter, Mo., and Charles Edward, III and Ginger Maronay, of Wappapello, Mo., Steven Maronay, of Wappapello, Mo., Camille and Allan Lockhart, of Springfield, Mo., and William Sexton, of Dallas, Texas,; nine great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Virgil was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Raymond McElyea and one sister, Ruth Cooley.
Memorial Services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, at the Presbyterian Church in Kennett, Mo.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes all donations be made to the Kennett Humane Society in Kennett, Mo.
McDaniel Funeral Service of Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
